About Bookshare.org

Bookshare.org launched in 2002 and offers blind, dyslexic and other disabled individuals access to more than 15,000 books online by enabling members of this community to legally share scanned books. Members pay an annual subscription fee to download books of their choice to listen to on their computers using a synthetic voice or to read using a refreshable braille device.

You don't have to be a Bookshare member to have a book from the Bookshare Catalog embossed by the press division of Universal Media Services.

How It Works

Visit Bookshare.org and simply search for your book of interest and select the embossed Braille option. After filling out a simple online order form and submitting payment, the custom book order is sent to Braille Institute Press where it is embossed (Customers can also have the file edited and proofread as well). The completed book is then mailed directly to the customer.

How To Order

Follow these steps to order an embossed Braille book:

Step 1: Go to www.bookshare.org

Step 2: Search the collection for the book you would like to order. Use the Search links in the navigation area on any page (New, Title, Author or Category).

Step 3: Click on the book title link to get to a page with detailed information about the book. This page will offer the option of ordering an embossed braille copy.
Please note: Fair Quality books are not available in embossed braille.

Step 4: Complete the order form, including mailing and payment information, and choose the embossing option if desired.
